A date for your diary (and a response to Cyril Balderson's request): The Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre will hold its Annual Seminar on Monday 24th September, with possible associated events on Friday 21st and Tuesday 25th. This continues the series of "Edinburgh Parallel Supercomputer seminars" which were held in 1988 and 1989; the change of name reflects the creation of a new grouping within the University of Edinburgh which brings together some of the activities of the Parallel Architectures Laboratory (Artificial Intelligence), the Laboratory for the Foundations of Computer Science, the applications-based work on the MEiKO "Supercomputer", and other groups. This years's seminar be wider in scope than the previous events, to represent the new range of activities, and will be more intensive, with parallel sessions and more substantial presentations. It will be open to all, and the fee will be moderate. I know of one other "booked date" around that time: 12th Technical Meeting of the Occam User Group, York, 18th-20th September.
