[comp.sys.transputer] Administrivia

andy@TCGOULD.TN.CORNELL.EDU (Andy Pfiffer) (03/08/88)

Several things:

	1) PLEASE keep the add/remove me drivel confined to the
	   transputer-request address, ie:

		transputer-request@tcgould.tn.cornell.edu
		    for add/remove requests

		transputer-archive@tcgould.tn.cornell.edu
		    for archival retrievals and listings

		transputer@tcgould.tn.cornell.edu
		    for general submissions

	2) I have several add/remove me requests stacked up and
I'll eventually get around to them. I just got back from
2 weeks in Denver and boy is my mailbox stuffed.

	3) Over the next few days I'll be turning over the moderator
job to Mike North (north@tcgould.tn.cornell.edu). Ya' see,
I've got this nifty new job with a Transputer board vendor
in Colorado and we aren't quite ready to tackle the mailing
	   list...yet.

	4) For the periodic archive browsers (you know who you are :^)
I've moved all new submissions to date into a subdirectory
"Mar.07.88". I'll post the contents in a following message.

	Mailing List Members :

With the increasing number of stray requests being posted to
the 'transputer' mailing list I am posting a brief refresher
course in using the services provided by the mailing list.

Request :	Anything concerned with addition/deletion to the
mailing list, or the modification of an existing
address should be addressed as follows :

			U.K. Members :

				transputer-request@uk.ac.oxford.prg

			U.S. Members :

				transputer-request@tcgould.tn.cornell.edu

Posting :	To post relevant articles concerned with transputers,
algorithms, vendors etc., you should send to the
			following addresses :

			U.K. Members :

				transputer@uk.ac.oxford.prg

			U.S. Members :

				transputer@tcgould.tn.cornell.edu

Archiver :	The archiver saves all postings to the mailing
list. The archivers and lists are operated
independently in the U.S. and U.K. Postings
and requests are handled similarly while the
			archivers are different. For additional
			information :

U.K. Members : "Subject:" line or first line of message
should include "send help" or "help".

				archive-server@uk.ac.oxford.prg

U.S. Members :	"Subject:" line of message should
look like "Subject: help" and be
					sent to address below.

				transputer-archiver@tcgould.tn.cornell.edu

	Miscellaneous Notes :

		A) Addresses which cause a large number of bounced
messages are removed after attempts are made to correct the
addresses. Requests for addition should be submitted to
		the appropriate request address above.

		B) Please send requests for addition/deletion to the
correct administrator. Many list members are on redistribution
lists which exist as one entry in the primary lists. Thus,
we may not be able to find your address when you send us
a deletion request. Addition/deletion requests should be
made to the person who oversees the local alias.

		C) Addresses are different depending on which side of the
ocean you are on. In the U.S. request addresses are:
			transputer-request@tcgould.tn.cornell.edu
			transputer-request@prg.oxford.ac.uk
while in the U.K. they are :
			transputer-request@usa.edu.cornell.tn.tcgould
			transputer-request@uk.ac.oxford.prg

You should use your closest distribution point.

		D) Be patient. I try to keep up with the requests received
but am often unable to concentrate solely on list management.
If the message doesn't bounce chances are that it arrived
here. Please do not post requests to the 'transputer' address
as thousands of people will hate you for it.

	Enjoy...
