[comp.sys.transputer] Trollius & GENESYS experience

dmcmilla@rcsdjm.uucp (Don McMillan CS 50) (05/30/90)

We are considering either licensing Trollius from OSU/Cornell, or
purchasing GENESYS from Transtech. We would like to hear what netters
have to say about the pros and cons of each.

Some of our thoughts:

Since both use the trollius kernel, low level functionality is comparable.
Transtech seems uninterested in porting GENESYS to any hardware except
their own, whereas trollius runs on many machines (is this simply because
trollius uses a standard i/o interface like the AFServer or IServer?).
A big plus for GENESYS, a symbolic debugger (but tied to their proprietary
compilers). Anybody working on symbolic debugger for Trollius (and either
3L or Log. Sys. compilers)?

Any and all comments (preferably from USERS) would be greatly appreciated.

Please reply directly via email, we'll post a summary to the net if there
appears to be enough interest.
