I would like to suggest a newsgroup to discuss the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. I think this would a temporary group which would go away in about Oct or Nov 1984. Tom Crawford ...amd70!tc

I would like to propose net.olympics as a forum to discuss the 1984 summer olympics in Los Angeles. I expect this would be a temporary group which would go away in about Oct or Nov 1984. Tom Crawford ...amd70!tc

At the very least, make it net.sport.olympics. -- Roger Noe UUCP: ihnp4!ihlts!rjnoe ARPA: ihnp4!ihlts!rjnoe@berkeley

Since it's temporary, keep in in net.sport. That's not much used anyway. Dave Sherman -- {allegra,cornell,decvax,ihnp4,linus,utzoo}!utcsrgv!dave

I vote nay on net.olympics unless traffic at the time warrents it. Net.sport is not one of the more used newsgroups and should be the proper forum for discussions of the olympics unless there is good reason to divide it out. Too, I think that it is generally a bad idea to create a newsgroup before a definite need for it is estab- lished. The creation of net.tv.tda was one of the least necessary actions to be taken on the net in a while. (Sorry, Mark, but it is invariably a duplicate of net.politics.) -- Byron Howes UNC - Chapel Hill (decvax!duke!unc!bch)

#R:amd70:-419400:inmet:7000032:000:197 inmet!tower Dec 24 10:03:00 1983 No to net.olympics. Temporary groups SHOULD NOT be created. They just clutter the net. Use net.sports-at least it will see some traffic. -len tower harpo!inmet!tower Cambridge, MA

I vote against net.olympics, also. All discussions for the two weeks each of the winter and summer games can be more than adequately handled in net.sports. Jim Collymore
