[comp.sys.transputer] Running Express on a B008

I.Glendinning@ecs.southampton.ac.uk (Ian Glendinning) (09/18/90)

Has anyone managed to run Express on a PC containing a B008? I have
so far been unable to get it to run and would greatly appreciate any
tips. As far as I can tell, my B008 is set up just like a normal
B004 (no DMA), since I can run TDS on it ok. In this case, I would
expect the default configuration file EXPRESS.CST to be ok, so I have
not altered it. I tried running the worm with CNFTOOL, but I get an
error message saying over and over again that there was an error in
the worm and that it is being reloaded. Maybe that is to be expected,
since the B008 has a C004 in it, as well as some hard wired links, so
I tried using the graphical mode of cnftool to set up the network as
it was known to be (according to another worm program called CHECK).
Now when I try to run EXINIT I get the following 2 lines:

Pre-booting network
ERROR: Transputer response available prior to bootstrap

Incidentally, EXRESET claims to have reset the transputers. I only
have 2 transputers in the B008, both T800s, with 4096k and 3428k of
memory respectively, which ought to be enough that it isn't a memory
problem. Link 0 of processor 0 goes to the host, and link 2 is
connected to link 1 of processor 1. I am sure that the problem is not
that the transputers are not reset, since CHECK has an option to reset
them, and I tried running it before EXINIT with no observed change.
