Long saga of problems.
One of my consulting customers just purchased an Interdyne one-reel tape
drive from Mainstreet Computers in Texas. This was billed as a package
containing drive, one tape, software, and documentation.
The drive arrived a few days later, with no tapes and nothing printed.
There is a floppy disk with some software and a text file that turns out
to be software documentation. Being under a deadline to get this
working, we call Mainstreet and ask them to send out a tape by Federal
express. The shipping costs almost as much as the tape. They sit on
the order for three days and then ship.
Now that I have a tape to work with, I discover that just plugging the
drive into the floppy controller, as billed, does NOT work. I think
that the option straps are set wrong, but I have no hardware
documentation or installation instructions. We won't be dealing with
Mainstreet again.
I still have to get this thing operating soon. It would help greatly if
someone who has either hardware doc or installation instructions could
send me a list of strap settings or contact me by mail to help.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
I also intend to post a review of this drive when I finally get it
working.
Thanks,
Paul
