[comp.sys.transputer] eunet.parallel proposal - bad news

zenith@ensmp.fr (Steven Ericsson Zenith) (01/17/91)

Whilst I concede that announcements of Euro meetings are of little use
to USA readers - incidently announcements of meetings in Portland are
similarly limited to Europeans, people on the East coast , Australians
etc.. - it remains useful to be aware of what meetings are being formed
in the world.

I think this proposal is dangerous, since it is likely to further
isolate the european parallel processing community which still hasn't
woken up to the fact that our friends in the USA caught us with our
pants down and now possess technology and resource in high performance
computing far in advance of anything Europe currently possesses or is
likely to possess in the next 10 years. European researchers are
constrained enough by having to work with limited resource and outdated
technology - I fear this proposal does not serve that community's best
interests.
