Dear Netters, We are currently looking into the possibility of purchasing a few transputer based systems for the purposes of teaching and research. We have tentatively decided on T800 series of tansputers. I would appreciate if you could give me some pointers on the following aspects. NOTE that I am a complete transputer novice. 1) How much experience do you need to start off designing with transputers? Currently we have none. We later want to implement a multiprocessing system. We have experience with almost all Intel and Motorola products. Students here will be interested to work with transputer hardware. 2) Are there many third party vendors around for transputer systems and subsystems? Where can I get their names and addresses? Are there any University based vendor/supplier who can give the subsystems at a cheaper price. 3) Are there many software compilers and tools available for transputers? I have played with a C compiler meant for transputers but we do not have much experience with transputer implementation. We have enough background and knowledge in almost all sequential languages and compiler design. 4. Price of the bare system and what constitutes a bare system 5. Are there any application software and public domanin softwre availabe? Where can I get them. Your help will be very much appreciated.
