[comp.sys.transputer] GNU C

ARCR1@biology.cambridge.ac.uk (Andy Raine) (01/30/91)

Dear Net

A while back there was a discussion here about the feasibility of porting
GNU C to the transputer family, but at that time noone admitted to having
done it. What is the situation now? I'd really like to use C++, but of
course, if gcc were ported, then g++ wouldn't be that tough really would it?

The (major) problem is that gcc produces code for REGISTER CPU's,
*not* stack-based like the Transputer family.

Does anyone have a comment on this ?

As I recall Richard Stallman had this to say: "Don't do it - it'll
require too much work" ... or words to that effect.
