ALL ABOUT THE WASHINGTON AREA TRANSPUTER USERS GROUP
                                    (WATUG)

WATUG was founded in November, 1989. It holds meetings in both Maryland and
Virginia and has members from all over the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore
metropolitan areas. Most of its members are currently using transputers in
their research or product lines, but some members are still evaluating the
possibilities of the chip.

WATUG was formed when several North American Transputer Users Group (NATUG)
members realized that they all worked in this region but had never heard of
each other. Now over seventy members have joined the group, attending monthly
meetings that are centered around lectures about transputer research or
products.

WATUG offers several resources to transputer users. The membership list is an
invaluable place to turn for informal help. The monthly lectures provide
insight into current research and techniques. Soon, WATUG will have its own
Transputer Education Kit for loan to prospective users. In addition, the
WATUG Job Exchange Program provide its members with valuable information about
job opportunities in the field of parallel processing (see sample below). But
most of all, WATUG lets transputer users know they are not alone in their day-
to-day efforts to program these pioneering chips.
