There is also a company in New York, Human Devices, who runs Linda on their >horus >ompute-Server. They have a very nice interface to Macs. - Steven W. Engle Senior AI Software Enmgineer MIMD Systems

Dear Mailing List: Sorry for posting this on the list instead of mailing it out indivi= dually, but I've seen several requests concerning Linda on transputers during the last few weeks, and I was unable to mail some of the senders (e.g. Craig Faasen) directly... *** I've heard about the following Linda projects on transputers: * A commercial Linda (C, other languages later) is under development at SCA (the Linda company) in cooperation with Inmos (for Xmas). I don't have contact persons or email addresses, perhaps ask Prof. Gelernter... * Perry Busalacci (busalacc@umn-cs.cs.umn.edu) has to do something with Linda on transputers, I'm not sure what exactly he is doing. * All the hardware and software of Cogent is based on Linda. It is a very nice and powerful product, and it is based on transputers, but they have added special hardware. Ask Wm Leler (wm@cse.ogc.edu). * A student at Edinburgh (Neil MacDonald, erck19@castle.ed.ac.uk) is implementing Linda (C, than Prolog and perhaps Lisp) on their Meiko Computing surface, and another student has once implemented Linda Lisp on that machine. * Topologix once had Linda running on their transputer boards for Suns. I hope that helps... ************************************************************************ * Klaus Kusche * * Research Institute for Symbolic Computation * * Johannes Kepler University Tel: +43 7236 3231 67 * * A-4040 Linz Telex: (Austria) 22323 uni li a * * Austria (Europe) Fax: +43 7236 3231 30 * * * * Bitnet: K312240@AEARN * * Arpa/CS/Internet: K312240%AEARN.BITNET@CUNYVM.CUNY.EDU * * UUCP: mcvax!aearn.bitnet!K312240 * * Janet: k312240@earn.aearn or k312240%aearn@earn-relay * ************************************************************************

Dear list, There wasn't much talk about Linda on the Transputer list. Nevertheless Linda appeals to me as a concept to express parallelism and I would like to known if anyone knows of a Transputer-based version - either planned, or under development, or available. Please e-mail any information directly to me and if there should be enough interest, I will summarize to the net. Cheers, Helmut (W9/DH0MAD) _________________________________________________ heller@lisboa.ks.uiuc.edu "Knowledge must be gathered and cannot be given" u27013@ncsagate.bitnet ZEN, one of BLAKES7 Phone: (217)244-1586 ------------------------------------------------- Helmut Heller, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Beckman Institute Theoretical Biophysics Group, Transputer Lab, Room 3151 405 N.
