[comp.sys.transputer] Transputing 91 papers

mo@messy.bellcore.com (Michael O'Dell) (05/03/91)

I was just looking through the Transputing '91 program and
was very impressed with the papers there. I'd like to
suggest that papers like those there would be of great
interest to the audience of Computing Systems, a scholarly
refereed quarterly published jointly by the University of
California Press and the Usenix Association.
Computing Systems has about 5000 subscribers, over 500 being
industrial research and university libraries.

Computing Systems is a fast-turnaround journal dedicated to
chronicling the interplay between the theory and practice of
building advanced computing systems. While some of the
papers we have published might be Unix-related in some way,
that is certainly not a requirement. In the first 3 years
of issues, we published papers covering dynamic graphics,
fast cryptographic techniques, disitributed programming
environments, new operating systems, and an entire issue
devoted to electronic music, complete with a Compact Disc
for the audio examples. Papers have ranged from 3 pages
(a "Controversy" piece) to 75 pages - with 3 being
nearer any limit than 75.

So, those of you out there Transputing, please consider
submitting a manuscript, and please pass along the idea
to your collegues. You might even consider building
on a conference paper, revising and expanding it based on
more recent results (and no page limit!).

If you have any questions about the journal or the submission
process, please send them to me or our managing editor for
a prompt reply.
