Hello, I am working on a parallel computer as a hobby, and I'm considering going the Transputer route, since it would get me up and running a lot faster. Since I'm a hobbyist, I don't have funding for this and everything is comming out of my pocket. Where can I find transputers in small quantities at reasonable cost? T400s would be fine... Also, what is the minimal development system? I know inmos sells Occam and C, but are there public domain languages/compilers/development tools? In the May issue of Byte there is a "News" article (p. 70) on a Transputer Education Kit for $236 (T-400 on PC card, C, Occam, assembler, and docs). Computer System Architects 950 North University Ave. Provo, UT 84604 Voice: (800) 753-4272 FAX: (801) 374-2306 Also 1MB DRAM $110; add-on processor boards $150. Has anyone delt with these folks? And how are these prices? Mike

Apparently the prices I sent to the world in my previous message were a mis-print (however if you mention the Byte blurb you get those prices through the end of the month [? the woman on the phone was unsure]). New prices and some details: Transputer Education kit (T400, no memory) $296 Add-on card (additional T400) $200 Starter Kit (Education Kit w/1M DRAM, through 7/15) $346 My apologies for the mis-information.
