I am looking for the source to a public domain vi replacement. I have vtx from the comp.sources archives and am trying to do some comparison shopping. I have heard there is an editor eddy (sp?) that may be what I want. Any information would be appreciated. Bill Smith wsmith@cs.uiuc.edu uiucdcs!wsmith

Another vi clone was posted with source a few months ago. It is called STEVIE, a vi editor for the ST. There are source switches to compile it on MS-DOS. It works fine there. As always, the above is my personal opinion and not that of my employer and no guarantees are implied or given. Good Luck, Bill O'Shaughnessy

I have seen a copy of Stevie, a VI clone originally done for the Atari ST, but recently ported to UNIX and OS/2. I have ported it to MSDOS. I don't know if it is public domain, but there is a distinct lack of copyright notice within the source and documentation. I got it off the net a couple of months ago, but you can contact Tony Andrews UUCP: onecom!wldrdg!tony Netwise, Inc.
