[comp.editors] Looking for UNIX version of MS-Word

brian@t2ns1.gcs.co.nz (11/15/89)

Hi y'all.

After weeks of fruitless pressure on the NZ distributor of UNIX
Microsoft Word, with no response, I have decided to appeal to the net
for a direct distributor from Australia, US, UK, Canada or wherever.

The story thus far is;

MS dist: "Oh, we have MS Word, but only version three!"
Me:      "Great how much?"
MS dist: "Oooh yuk you don't want V3!"
Me: "Yes I bloody well do - here's some cash!"
MS dist: "Wait 'till version 5 comes out ... later"
Me: "Is it feasible if I buy V3 now and upgrade to version 5 upon
	  it's release?"
MS dist: "Um, okay."
Me:	 "Great! How much"
MS dist: "We prefer not to deal directly with end users..."
Me:	 <Gnash!>

After they never got back I set our Concord rep at his throat.

The story thus far repeated 4 times;
Me:	"Well?"
Concord:"We haven't heard back..."

Help! We want MS Word on our Concord 386 box, Microport UNIX.
(We want it over the readily avaliable Word Perfect simply because
 everyone *already* knows how to use it. We have Uniplex, but, frankly,
 we all think it's word processor sucks.)

This is not a slag-off at either Concord or Microsoft.

Consider me disclaimed.
Any and all replies gratefully accepted.
Thanks in advance.
