From all the talk about buffer-gap vs. linked list line storage for editors, I have become interested in the following question: How is data storage being done in popular text editors today? I already know how Emacs works; what about the rest? How about a table listing the different methods and who uses what? Actually, I am more interested in knowing about Word Perfect, Wordstar, Word, Multimate, DisplayWrite, PageMaker, Ventura, etc.--expensive software as well as cheap stuff. // kip // Kip Holliday || kip@ksuvm.ksu.edu || kip@phobos.cis.ksu.edu +-----------------------------------------------------------+ If God had meant for humans to deal with computers, He would have included a network port on the back of our heads. -klh -- Kip Holliday || kip@ksuvm.ksu.edu || kip@phobos.cis.ksu.edu +-----------------------------------------------------------+ If God had meant for humans to deal with computers, He would have included a network port on the back of our heads. -klh
