I'm posting this for a friend. Please email responses. My friend is trying to set up Free VI version 1.4 on her PC. I am currently running this on both my PC at work and at home with no problem. My friend is experiencing the following problems: She is unable to open an existing file in vi. She can create a new file in vi and save it. When she tries to open the file again, she gets crashed back to the DOS prompt. She has checked the syntax in her autoexec.bat file. It is correctly setting the tmp directory. She has created the empty c:\tmp directory. She is not running any TSRs. She has extended memory. She is using an IBM PC compatible 286 running DOS 3.3, and has a VGA monitor.
