A number of vi documents have been mentioned in the past few days, but at least one hasn't which should be. Almost all of the wizard-level vi commands are really ex commands, and the place which tells what they all are is the Ex Reference Manual, by William Joy. About twenty pages long, probably buried in your system documentation somewhere. The one I have is marked Version 3.5/2.13 - September, 1980, but I don't think it's been updated since then. This is it. This one has everything. I can't overstress how valuable it is. And for whatever reason I've never seen a lot of the information anywhere else. Also while I'm on the subject, I'll throw in a plug for my favorite vi book, which is _A Guide to vi: Visual Editing on the UNIX System_, by Dan Sonnenschein, Prentice-Hall, 1987 [ISBN 0-13-371311-3 025]. An attractive, well-written book, contains exercises with answers which are actually useful, has handy reference tables (my favorite is a list of which keys aren't mapped to anything), it's a useful book from beginner to expert level.
