[comp.editors] cut and paste in emacs

When I try to copy and paste text between two sunview windows running
emacs I can only copy a few lines at a time. When running vi it works 
fine so I guess the problem lies within emacs. Has anybody else expreienced
this problem and found a solution ? I would be thankful for any hints.
