A vi question. Please, if you will. The system: NCR 600 Unix V.2 Release 2.01.02 The editor extensions module is installed. Many of the vi manuals that I have looked at discuss a command called fmt. If I understand correctly, this command will reformat a given paragraph. Also, I beleive that, the command requires a program external to vi. Our system does not contain fmt. Since the fmt command is so common, I assume that it is available in one of archives that a UUNET subscriber could access. Any idea where I could get a copy of fmt? I do not have FTP and have not yet figured out how to get at the large data bases available to FTP users. I do know how to get files off of UUNET, however. This help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Darrell uunet!eeocdt!darrell

This isn't exactly an answer to the question you asked, but... I use the external program "adjust" to do my paragraph formatting in vi. Most often I use the softkey mapping map #1 {!}adjust -m76^M which does one paragraph, but you can pipe more or less through the program, or change the right margin to something other than 76 of course. I don't know how 'fmt' differs from adjust, but it sounds like it would work if you have it. _____________ Tom von Alten email: alien@hpdmd48.boi.hp.com
