I now have a pretty stable beta test version of my X based text editor. I am interested in getting people to try it. Below is a blurb on it. Point is a text editor for X windows that allows you to use the mouse more than most other editors. You can select text with the mouse and that is the object of many commands (delete, search, move, copy, etc.) Some of its features are: * Any number of text windows. Windows are managed by your window manager. They can also by jumped to several fixed (specified in the resource file) locations on the screen. * Easy copy and move between windows (with both visible at the same time). * Multiple file browser windows for fast file loading. * A configurable menu bar that can contain direct commands (not just menus) for fast access. * Popup mouse menus that allow you to execute frequent commands with just a flick of the mouse (you can specify which commands) * Font size can be changed by window, at any time, using menu commands. * Supports the X selection in and out. * Can undo any number of commands. * Supports ctags. * Flexible searches (search for selection, search for last string searched for, type search string into a menu bar item, type search string into a dialog box, search forward and backwards, matchint brackets). * You can set the colors of text and the selection by window. It is easy to cycle color through a preselected list (specified in the resource file). * Complete documentation. * Highly configurable (colors, button labels, menus, mouse clicks, function keys, many other options) using X resource files. * Comes with two sample configuration files. Start with these and change things as you learn about them. * Options can be set interactively from dialog boxes. * Built and tested on: SUN 3, SUN 4 and DEC 5000. Available via ftp: host: unmvax.cs.unm.edu file: pub/pt.tar.Z After you ftp it: % zcat pt.tar.Z | tar xvf - will create a subdirectory named Point and put everything in that. Then Look at README and troff the manual page (pt.n).
