Could anyone point me to a reference (online or offline) which describes the NAPLPS terminal protocol - i.e. what escape sequences and control codes cause what things to happen in the terminal and what unusual sequences the terminal might send to the host (other than the normal letters, numbers, punct. etc)? Thank you, Frank Prindle Prindle@NADC

NAPLPS is an ANSI standard, and the best reference is the standard itself, available from ANSI for about $20. The basic idea is to use escape sequences to redefine the characters from (decimal) 32 to 127 (optionally also from 128 to 255 in the 8-bit mode). The default interpretation for these characters is standard ASCII, but they can also be defined to be mosaic graphics, redefinable fonts, picture drawing instructions, or macros. The stuff the terminal sends back can be fairly complicated, particularly if unprotected fields are defined (a NAPLPS capability). Refer to the Service Reference Model (SRM) appendix in the standard. If you like, I can send or post the standard number and the address of ANSI. I have it at home, but not with me. Ken Bandes ...ihnp4!houxs!ksb
