(if I did this right, this should only be seen by readers in wny) WANTED: BARN OWL SIGHTINGS This past Wednesday night the Buffalo Ornithological Society had an individual speak on Barn Owls at their bi-monthly meeting. This gentleman is doing research on the owls, recently moved to this area (just finished master's degree in Virginia), and is looking for leads to Barn Owl nests in this area. They are not common in this area, apparently. So it occured to me this morning that a post on this newsgroup (limited to the wny area) may help find some birds. If you or someone you know knows of nesting Barn Owls, or have seen some in your area recently (say the last year or so), and you'd like to contribute your information to the research effort, please e-mail me (tirone@acsu.buffalo.edu) and I will pass the info along to the individual. OR, if you wish, I can find out his phone no. and you can talk to him yourself (I don't have it with me -- the idea to post this request here was an afterthought. I don't even recall the guy's name!
