I am the *proud* owner of a Xerox 820 Big Board computer. I would like to put some sort of floppy on it. The problems I face are simple... First of all, I'm not sure if I have a Big Board I or II. (And what are the differences?) Also, I am of the belief that the Monitor I have ("Xerox 820 Ver 2.0") is capable of supporting only single sided, single density drives, either 5 or 8 inch. Right now the system has a Western Digital 1771 drive controller, and is supposed to be able to handle any Shugart compatible drive. (Ah, yes, the Shugart division of Xerox!) I looked around some... I can't seem to locate anything that isn't hard drives, and PC compatible let alone as antiquated as single sided... I'm interested in either knowing how practically (read: cheaply) I can convert the ROM to handle double sided and/or double density drives, or obtaining some single sided, single denisty 8 inch drives. If anyone has some information in this light that might be helpful, I would appreciate it if they would mail a response to me. who?: Jon Loeliger arpa: jdl@Purdue.EDU uucp: ...{decvax,ucbvax,ihnp4,pur-ee}!purdue!jdl late-nights: (317) 743-4459
