In his 1950 article presenting the Turing test, Turing also talks about a human version called The Imitation Game. It works the same way as the Turing test except that it is played by a man and a woman (with an interrogator) and the man plays the part of the computer in the Turing test. In other words, the interrogator has to decide which is which. The woman tries to get his to make the correct choice (by acting like she is the woman) and the man tries to get him to make the wrong choice (by acting like he is the woman). He simply presents it this way, though I'm sure the roles could be reversed. When I read this, it struck me as immensely interesting. Has anyone ever heard of an imitation game ever being actually staged? -Karl kpfleger@phoenix.princeton.edu kpfleger@pucc (bitnet)
