[sci.psychology] Request for reference on visual recognition

tami@canisius.UUCP (Dr. Tami Crawford) (02/26/91)

I'm trying to find a study mentioned by Alan Kay in his
talk, "Doing with Symbols Makes Images". He mentions a study by
Harmon where 30 people were shown 10,000 photos for about 10 seconds
and 30 days later were able to tell with 90% accuracy whether
or not they had seen the photo before.

Please email if you have any information about where I can find
this study.

Thanks,

Tami Crawford

Hmm, I have the following reference, it may be along the right lines ...

Standing, L. (1973)
Learning 10,000 pictures.
