************************************************************************* FOURTH Workshop on EMPIRICAL STUDIES of PROGRAMMERS December 7-8, 1991, New Brunswick, NJ Important Date: Submission Deadline: May 13, 1991 ************************************************************************* Hello! As the following letter and Call for Participation indicate we are getting ESP IV underway. The location has been set at the Hyatt Regency in New Brunswick, NJ. New Brunswick is just outside of New York City and is along the Northeast Corridor AMTRAK route and major highway routes up the East Coast. New Brunswick is most easily reachable by air via Newark International Airport or Philadelphia International Airport. Ironically, though not quite as close as Newark, Philadelphia is the most convenient because of easy rail links. For those of you thinking of combining visits the general area encompasses Rutgers University, Princeton University, Bellcore, IBM Watson Research Center, NYNEX, ATT Bell Labs, Sarnoff (East), NEC (Princeton), ETS, universities located in New York City, and other places interested in ESP and CHI research. We are working out the details now and so we don't have any financial information just yet--but soon! We are trying to arrange a welcome reception for the night before the workshop starts so you might factor that into any preliminary plans. Details will be forthcoming shortly. In the meantime--please contact the co-chairs with any questions or issues! The interest level already is so high that we can look forward to a fine workshop. An electronic version of a cover letter announcing the workshop and a Call for Participation follow. Please feel free to disseminate these materials to anyone you feel might be interested, and ask us for hard copies if you would like them: --------------------------- Cover Letter --- cut here ------------------------ ************************************************************************* FOURTH Workshop on EMPIRICAL STUDIES of PROGRAMMERS December 7-8, 1991, New Brunswick, NJ Important Date: Submission Deadline: May 13, 1991 ************************************************************************* The return of ESP! We are happy to announce the Fourth Workshop on Empirical Studies of Programmers, to be held in New Brunswick, New Jersey, December 7-8, 1991. We are returning to the format of the first two ESP Workshops, including formal papers and panels. Ablex Publishing has again agreed to publish the Proceedings for the Workshop. Although topics change, some things have remained constant in previous Workshops: food for mind, soul, and body. It is hard to attend an ESP Workshop and not come away invigorated with new friends and new ideas. Please plan now to join us at ESP IV; the enclosed Call for Participation gives the specifics, but please feel free to propose any program additions that you think would enliven the show. In the Fall, we will be sending you more information on logistics; in the meantime, please feel free to contact Tom Moher or Scott Robertson, and please pass along our invitation to your colleagues. We hope to see you there!
