I am about to begin thesis research on voice transmission over a local area network. I need the capability to digitize voice and upload the data to a microcomputer (preferrably an IBM-PC). A unit that can also download digital data from a micro and play it back as speech would be desirable. Interface can either be RS-232, plug-in PC board, or other. All info would be appreciated. TI makes a digital speach board that plugs into either their TIPC line of machines or IBM machines or clones. It uses the TMS320 and generates very clear speech (at 3 different rates). Software included. I think they call it their SPEECH II kit or system. Steve Engle {ctvax,ea,okstate}!uokvax!uok!swengle
