I am running Microsoft Word 2.0 on an IBM-AT under DOS 3.1. I have a style sheet set up so that standard paragraphs are double spaced. I enter a footnote. The footnote appears double spaced on the printout. So far, so good. But, I really want the footnotes to print single spaces. When I try to format the footnote text (Format Paragraph or even Format Character), it yells something like "not a valid operation for a footnote" or something similar. Does anybody have any hints for me? By the way, since Microsoft's main diferentiating feature with Word is style sheets, isn't is somewhat ludicrous that the MAC version is missing this teriffic feature?! I also use WordPerfect 4.1 and I must say that I like many of its features (math, thesaurus, nice printer reconfiguration program, etc.), but I much prefer Microsoft Word's way of dealing with user interface issues (other than the tragic lack of a friendly printer driver modifying program). -- <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mark D.
