I am calling for discussion re the creation of a newsgroup for discussions of CD-ROM hardware, software and diskware (or whatever you call the round things :-) plus info on vendors and prices. Related issues, like networking CD-ROM systems and legal issues could also be discussed. The group would be called alt.cd-rom, with an option to move to comp. some time in the future (if traffic/intrest makes this plausible), unmoderated. If anyone has objections, speak out now or be silent forever. (Followups to news.groups, I hope I haven't messed this up too badly...) -- /* * * Otto J. Well, in this case, I think you could make a good case for comp.periphs.cd-rom. With the increasing amount of material released on cd-rom and the fact that it is discussed all over the place, it would be useful to have single point to discuss general issues. I ould really like to see a charter developed and a formal CFD issued to create the group.
