[alt.gourmand] how to use the postings you find here

recipes@decwrl.UUCP (09/25/87)

This newsgroup carries postings of various kinds, though each week's edition
will not necessarily have a posting of each kind.

Besides commentary and introductions, each posting is either
	* A recipe
	* A table or chart
	* An entry for an "encyclopedia of food"

The idea is that you will take each week's offerings and use them to make
your own online cookbook. Besides the food-related postings, there will also
be periodic postings or announcements of Unix software that will let you
typeset paper copies of your online cookbook, and make indexes or tables of
contents of it, etc. The software can also be retrieved from the decwrl
archive server; send a message to archive-server@decwrl.dec.com saying "help".
(or to {ucbvax,sun,pyramid,decvax,cbosgd,allegra}!decwrl!archive-server

For many different reasons, the material is all posted both in a troff format
and in a cleartext format. If you understand how to use the troff format, you
should probably use it; if not, then use the cleartext format.
