Wigilia is eaten after sundown on Christmas Eve. .IH "Serves 8" .IG "8" "apples," cored .IG "" "cherry or strawberry jam" .IG "\(12 cup" "sugar" "100 g" .IG "\(12 tsp" "mace or nutmeg" "2.5 ml" .IG "1 cup" "red wine" "250 ml" .IG "\(12 tsp" "vanilla" "2.5 ml" .PH .SK 1 Place apples in a buttered casserole or baking dish. Fill each with jam. .SK 2 Blend sugar and mace and stir in wine and vanilla.
