[rec.gardens] Bulb-type plants

rgc@edison.GE.COM (Rick Carl) (12/31/87)

Please, I need some help in order to help some plants that I received
for a Christmas present and that we bought earlier this Fall.

They are bulb plants (Amaryillis (SP) Tiger and Day Lilies Cannon
Lilies)...
I have been searching for some reference material on how to take care
of them (when to plant...when to dig up...what to do if they're dug up...
how to fertilize...how to reproduce them...just a bunch of generic
questions) BUT, I haven't been able to find to many books covering
this subject. I have found generic 'how-to' gradening books which
might have a paragraph or page covering these types of plants. I want
to find a reference specific to a "bulb-type" plant.

Any direction will be greatly appreciated.

I believe that Smith & Hawken, the well-known garden tool mail order
company (25 Corte Madera, Mill Valley, CA, 94941), carries some books
on bulb gardening. S&H recently started a bulb mail order business,
so it's quite likely that they are carrying relevant books as well.
