I would appreciate a short explanation of what Kermit does. Is it useful to people (like myself) with a VAX running USG 5.0 and an H89 running CP/M? Is it better than umodem and YAM or MODEMxxx? I have often seen the name Kermit mentioned on this net. I understand it is some kind of communications protocol. I would like to know more about what it is and how it works, in particular its internal workings. Can anyone recommend a good (or even not so good) tutorial paper(s) on Kermit?
