The following item is from Warren Cox, a user on the Questor Project CBIS in Vancouver, BC, Canada: 6TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL AIDS CANDLELIGHT MEMORIAL VANCOUVER, B.C. CANADA The 6th Annual International Aids Candlelight Memorial was held at Alexander Park in Vancouver, B.C. tonight May 28, 1989, and was well attended from the community. Gordon Price, Alderman from The City of Vancouver brought his personal greetings and tributes for us all to hear. Greetings were also read on behalf of Sven Robinson, Member of Parliament for Burnaby South. Warren Jensen from Persons With Aids Society, delivered his own personal remembrance of Kevin Brown. Kevin Brown was a very outspoken advocate of The PWA Society and in specifically People with Aids. Kevin recently passed away after a long and courageous battle with the Aids virus. Kevin and all the persons that have passed away with Aids will be remembered and missed from all our lives. Several individual speakers came to the mike and shared their own personal grief and allowed the healing to start for us all. People, straight, gay, mothers, lovers, and friends all there for one purpose, to remember someone they have lost or are about to lose. All with faith that there will be a cure for this dreaded disease that is sweeping our world. A presentation of The Canadian Quilt Project and a showing of eight panels being sent to Halifax to join the tour to represent B.C. and eventually arrive in Vancouver on July 13, 1989. Closing remarks and everyone singing The Sufi Song led by Donald Scanlon to end the evening. I am a circle, I am healing you. You are a circle, You are healing me. Unite us, we are one. Unite us, we are one. This memorial was funded by the Vancouver Persons With Aids Society and Aids Vancouver.
