There has been quite a bit of talk of a cure for AIDS or a vaccine. I agree that these are extremely good goals. Unfortunately, these may be a bit far off in coming. I am interested in what research is being done on making better and cheaper tests for AIDS. It seems to me that good, effective tests that can be administered privately could stop much of the spread of the disease. My understanding is that the present tests may be unreliable for 6 months-3 years(until the antibodies appear). A while back, someone posted some information about a company in California that was planning to introduce an AIDS test that could be sold over the counter and administered at home. Does anyone know of any other research in this area? Thanks.
