A teleconference is scheduled to take place in sites across the
U.S. determined to have high numbers of people living with AIDS
or large communities of Latinos in high risk categories for AIDS.
The conference will take place on 27 October. Objectives are:
1. to inform Hispanic/Chicano/Latino leaders in selected
project sites about recent AIDS data and culturally relevant
strategies to enable them to assume an active role in the
AIDS crisis in their communities;
2. to provide examples of AIDS interervention to Hispanic/
Chicano/Latino community leaders that can be implemented
and interaction with people knowledgeable about the
AIDS issues of these communities.
Southwestern sites include Phoenix, Albuquerque, Las Cruces,
El Paso, San Antonio, Houston, Corpus Christi, and Austin.
AIDS Resources of Dona Ana County is making arrangements to
carry the conference at New Mexico State University. Details
will be posted as they are received. Call 505-646-3441 for
