I know someone who advocates the use of massive doses of C-ascorbate (in powdered form) as an effective treatment for many of the opportunistic infections which can accompany HIV infections. This person says that the only reason that this treatment hasn't been approved is because it works, and no one will volunteer for the required double-blind study in which they might get a placebo (and die). What knowledge do people have about this form of treatment? The person who advocates this treatment has nothing to gain financially, and is quite firm in statements about the efficacy of controlled vitamin-C therapy.
