[sci.med.aids] Gene splice paranoia

Michael.Scroccaro@p5.f180.n221.z1.fidonet.org (Michael Scroccaro) (02/03/90)

When AIDS first reared it's ugly head, I was a young little protester/punk,
and I immediately thought that the American government was behind it all in
order to get rid of homosexuals. I thought that since it wasn't beyond them to
release new syphillus strains in Africa, why should this be a problem to them?

Well, several years later I haven't really lost those paranoid notions and
recently I heard a scientist from America saying that It is genetically
impossible for a disease such as AIDS to occur naturally or by accident. He
(whoever he may be, I saw it on CNN, so who knows how credible he is) said that
AIDS could only have come about by some sort of gene splice or forced mutation

Any thoughts? Any facts?
