I was at my Doctors ast week for my monthly check-in. He told me that within
the next couple of months, AZT would be licenced for general dispensing by
regular pharmacists. At the present AZT is only available from Hospital
pharmacies. Because it is considered a "study" AZT has been paid for by the
Canadian government. Once it becomes a licenced drug it is no longer a study
and the government will cease to pick up the cost. I am in a situation where I
just started a new job and benefits don't kick in for three months. Even then,
this company has a probation period of six months, so it would be difficult for
me to put AZT through on the drug plan without letting the company know of my
health situation. I'm not sure what answers I am really looking for here, but
I thought people would like to know that the Canadian government is going to
licence AZT.
