Some excerpts from an article in the Guelph Daily Mercury, dateline FERGUS,
Ontario, July 10, 1990.
Apparently the Daily Gleaner in New Brunswick ran an editorial to the
effect that "a strong body of opinion believes that homosexual AIDS victims
got exactly what they deserved..."
The Ministers response: "You can understand reaction (of that sort) from
people if they just don't have information. But these are not just
ordinary people on the street. These are people whose duty it is to inform
people" they should "help promote the values of a civilized society
rather than undermining them."
I don't agree with the man's politics, but this time he did well.
The final quote in the article:
"Prejudice is a different kind of disease. it is easier to contract and it
can spread much more rapidly and widely. Its effects, however, can be
equally deadly."
