"The only thing that continues to spread faster than AIDS is the
politics of AIDS.
For our most recent step backward, I would like to recognize the efforts of
Sen. Jesse Helms of North Carolina, the National Restaurant Association and,
unless it's able to overcome the political shenanignas of the restaurateurs and
Jesse, our government."
"Can you get AIDS from your food? ONLY IF YOU HAVE UNSAFE SEX WITH
IT. Can you get AIDS from your food handler? Same answer.
Health officials have testified and studies have shown that there is no danger
of getting AIDS from food handlers, even if one bled all over your lunch. The
surgeon general has said this. AND THE NATIONAL RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION HAS
SAID THIS. I quote from that organization's booklet on the subject: 'Even in
this extreme situation
(bleeding on food), there would be no risk of infection because the
AIDS virus does not survive long outside the human body and because digestive
acids would destroy it if it did."
"Or, as President Bush said, 'The ignorant may discriminate against
AIDS, but AIDS will not discriminate against the ignorant.'"
Above was in reference to the upcoming AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT voting.
