[sci.med.aids] AIDS from breast milk to babies

GERRI@IBM.COM (Gerri Oppedisano) (08/10/90)

>I learned recently that babies have been infected with HIV from
>infected mothers' breast milk. But we were told it's due to
>the *large* quantity of the milk that is consumed (so this wouldn't
>be confused with infection from kissing, etc., which simply isn't true).

Uhmm.. This may seem like a stupid question but since babies have shared
everything with their mothers how can it be determined that a baby was
infected specifically by breast milk and not blood from the mother??
