[sci.med.aids] CHALLENGE TO CIVIL RIGHTS IN CA

Chip.White@f462.n204.z1.fidonet.org (Chip White) (08/13/90)

There is a pending bill in the California State Senate which
would allow property seizure without due process of law for those
suspected of "health fraud". This is a critical issue for
everyone, but particularly to those concerned with the freedom of
choice in treatments for AIDS, cancer and other incurable
diseases.
The law, SB 2872, has already passed the California senate,
senate judiciary committee, and could go to law as soon as
Tuesday, August 14th.
The law gives authorities the right to seize the books,
records, advertisements, research products, and materials of
anyone SUSPECTED of violating the law. Personal assets of
individuals could be seized as well. Both the providers AND
RECIPIENTS of information and/or "unauthorized" drugs/materials
can be arrested and subjects of seizure under the law.

PLEASE HELP PREVENT THIS PROPOSAL, AN OBVIOUS VIOLATION OF THE
1ST AMENDMENT, FROM BECOMING LAW!. THIS COULD HAPPEN AS SOON AS
AUGUST 14TH!

EVEN IF YOU DO NOT LIVE IN CALIFORNIA, THIS LAW COULD AFFECT YOUR
FREEDOM OF CHOICE IN HEALTH CARE.
