I am a layman, so please answer my questions simply if you can. I am wondering about the prevalence of AIDS in those people who are not in any high risk category, and the probability of contracting the disease from someone who is HIV positive. I have heard that condoms reduce the probability of contracting AIDS by a factor of 5, is this figure accurate? Also is the probability of a woman transmitting to a man lower than that of a man transmitting to a woman, because the exchange of fluids is primarily in one direction? In short, what are the odds out there? Damon
