NetLandians, The Gulfstream PC series, when fitted with a hard disk, comes with a PARK.COM program. With certain hard disks, that program is BAD .. pushes the heads beyond the park zone, jamming them. If you have one of these beasties, contact your vendor or Gulfstream to be sure you have the new, fixed PARK.COM. I ran my system for several months, parking faithfully, with no problem, but finally got hit and discovered the reason when I called Gulfstream. (Very friendly, nice service department, by the way.) Field fix was to place the hard disk face-down on a table, and knock with knuckles on the back of the drive (shudder!). Sure 'nuff, knocked the heads loose and she powered right up .. no media damage or data lost. But maybe it would be better if you got the fixed PARK program .. inelegant at best to beat on your hard disk.
