I just finished reading an article that reported on a recent study that showed that many doctors have strong negative feelings about AIDS patients and that their attitudes are affecting their willingness to treat gay males with AIDS. This means that some health care professionals' biases about AIDS patients and their sexual orientation could be affecting who gets treated and who doesn't. I fear that since these findings are being reported so matter-of-factly in the lay press, the problem is probably much worse in the real world. I thought that we had progressed beyond that stage.
