There was an article in the paper this week about a drug called spiromycin.
It's one of the few (if not the only) drug which is effective against the
cryptosporidium protozoa. It's not commercially available in this country,
but is available free from NIAID on a compassionate use basis (the clinical
trials number, 1-800-TRAILSA, knows how to reach the right person in
NIAID). It's available by prescription in Europe.
