[sci.med.aids] CFD: talk.politics.aids - status report

wolfe@wolves (G. Wolfe Woodbury) (02/23/91)

The Call for Discussion went out a week or so ago and I neglected to
send a copy to the moderators of sci.med.aids for posting. Please
accept my apologies for the oversight. There is still time for dissent
if you have strong objections to this new group.
--

I have received several items of mail in favor of the group and there
have been a few posts in the net of support for the group.

There is one minor complaint that it doesn't really belong in
talk.politics, but all other commentators have mentioned that they
believe it is appropriate to place it in talk.politics.

Unless there is massive correspondence between now and the 1st, I will
press to a Call For Votes starting around the 4th and extending through
the 31st of March.

To recap: talk.politics.aids is being proposed as an appropriate place
for the discussion of the political fallout and affects of AIDS. The
moderators of sci.med.aids have decided that it is not appropriate there
and the various other locations it has appeared in have been less than
enthusiastic about its presence.

The group will be unmoderated and have no official archives.

I will be the vote taker and will have a special account set up for the
votes.
