I am posting this here because this newsgroup is more knowledgeable about CMV than any other that I have come across. I have a friend and fromer co-worker that is involved in the tissue donation industry. One of the tests now being performed on donated tissue is for CMV, (as well as HIV and HTLV-III). She has indicated to me that she has seen a rise in the number of samples that have come back HIV negative but are CMV positive. Particulary in the Sacramento Valley region of northern California. The person donating the tissue has been screaned for compatiability of donation which includes checking medical history and these people are not in a high risk group for AIDS. Is there an explaniation for this increase? Is CMV found in our environment (like MAI), and dosen't cause any problems for non- immunocompromised persons? Any information on this is greatly appreciated. Please forward to jayt@drbear.com Thanks for any help. -- John "Jay" Tyson \ Drummer Bear Systems \ jayt@drbear.COM 1259 El Camino Real, #214 /\ ...!{decwrl|saxony}!drbear!jayt Menlo Park, CA 94025 / \ / \ I want to die... living!
